The American Legion has had a fund with MICF for many years. The Legion supports a local organization of long-standing patriotic tradition and a history of work with youth.

Lions have a dynamic history. Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.

The purpose of the Central Panther Club is to develop and promote the various athletic and related programs of Central High School in Independence, Oregon.

CHS Performing Arts Boosters

The CHS Performing Arts organization is devoted to promoting and supporting the arts at Central High School. Fund-raising efforts by devoted volunteers made it possible for them to open a fund with MICF.

Mendezona Scholarship

The Monmouth Friends of the Library have a fund with MICF. Their stated purpose is to support the Monmouth Public Library in its programs and collections. Friends of Monmouth Library support and publicize library activities for our community through fund-raising and volunteering.

Independence Heritage Museum 

The mission of the Heritage Museum is to preserve and display the history and culture of the river town of Independence and Polk County. This mission is accomplished by collecting artifacts, documents, and photographs and making them available to the public using tours, programming, access to files, and working with other historical groups and community organizations.

Heritage Museum endowment and non-endowment funds at MICF support its role in preserving the history of Monmouth, Independence, and Buena Vista and making collections available to the public.

The Independence Police Benevolence Funds

 

The Independence Police Benevolence Funds held on their behalf by MICF are used to support families and dependents of deceased or seriously ill or injured officers.

CHARITABLE PURPOSE:

1. The Independence Police Benevolence Fund was created in 2007 after an officer contracted a Lou Gehrig disease triggered by an on-duty incident.  The fund’s purpose is to provide financial support to an Independence Police Department employee and to their immediate family when the employee becomes critically sick, injured or suffers a catastrophic event and their condition poses a financial hardship.

2. To provide scholarship funds to Independence Police employees for career-enhancing police training or for partial scholarships to higher education classes that are needed for a degree program in law enforcement or leadership, or to offer partial scholarships to children of Independence Police Department employees for tuition on higher education classes required for a two or four-year degree program.

CREATION AND INTENT:

The Independence Police Benevolence Fund was created in 2007 after an officer contracted a fatal disease. In 2018 the fund also began providing college scholarships.

The Independence Police Benevolence Fund receives most of its funding through monthly contributions from Independence Police employees plus negotiated matching funds from the City. Fundraising and private donations complete the income for the fund.

Monmouth 2056 Bicentennial

The Monmouth Bicentennial fund was established by one of the MICF founders. His goal was to deposit funds and have them grow to the point where the bicentennial celebration will be truly outstanding.

Rotary Club of Monmouth-Independence

The Rotary Club of Monmouth and Independence participates in the Rotary International Student Exchange Program. Rotary funds deposited with MICF are designated for use as scholarships to send local students on foreign exchange adventures.

MI Town Skatepark

The cities of Monmouth and Independence are working with a group of local volunteers, known as MI Town Skatepark to construct a new regional skate park facility.  The new facility would be located in the Monmouth Recreational Park just west of the existing skate park facility on the other side of the baseball field next to Hogan Road. The goal of the skate park project is to address the ever-changing recreational needs of our larger, more diverse population and to ensure the cities’ facilities reflect those current and future trends.

The Gate is a network of people committed to creating a place for young people in this community. A safe place to be known as individuals, be encouraged to grow, learn, and encounter Christ’s love. The Gate Youth Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to demonstrate Christ’s love to the youth of our community through academic, social, and spiritual activities. We hope to bring young people into a relationship with Christians who can share their faith. Our vision is a community where future generations experience, follow and serve Christ.

The Gate Youth Association is committed to creating a place for young people in the community and is the primary purpose of gate funds at MICF.

This scholarship is funded through donations from the Wells family and is available to graduating seniors at Central High School. Apply for this scholarship by using the MICF Scholarship Grant process.
